Prevoyage Summary

After years of Katherine not being enthused about my cruising fantasies, we took a bareboat charter vacation in French Polynesia. Katherine had a great time and was inspired to try the cruising life.

In November 2000, After six months of studying and boat shopping, we located a Tayana 37 cruising cutter in the Florida Keys. I bought the boat — s/v The Good Neighbor (later renamed to s/v Squiz). In December 2000, my potential magic carpet. was loaded on a truck and delivered to Portland, Oregon.

After six months of spending every free minute improving Squiz for a few years of cruising — I sold my house, quit my job, and moved onto the boat.
